Geo was introduced by General Motors (GM) and later merged with Chevrolet. Geo vehicles were sold throughout North America. The compact cars and SUVs were economy cars with high fuel efficiency.
Although discontinued, many still own a piece of GM history with Geo models. At Guy's Automotive, you can find all the services you need for your vehicle. We specialize in maintaining old cars from defunct brands and can ensure your vehicle lasts long.
Only five models were released in the eight years that Geo was active. Guy's Automotive provides maintenance and repair services for all models produced under the Geo brand.
Geo Metro –This model was a collaborative effort between GM and Suzuki and was an adaptation of the Suzuki Cultus (Swift) introduced in North America in 1989. In the United States, it bore the Geo nameplate from 1989 to 1997.
Geo Tracker –The Tracker models were compact SUVs. The model was part of the original Geo lineup in 1989 and was the brand's longest-running model. It offered versatility to buyers throughout its production, available in convertible or hardtop configurations, with options for two or four doors and either rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive.
Geo Prizm –The Prizm, a compact four-door sedan, was built on the platform of the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Sprinter. It was a success and was recognized as a Consumer's Digest Best Buy. It was available from 1989 to 2002 and manufactured at NUMMI in Fremont, California.
Geo Spectrum –The Spectrum, a brief addition to the compact segment, was based on the Isuzu I-Mark and positioned one size above the Metro. Introduced in 1989, the Geo Spectrum aimed to provide potential buyers with an alternative to the Geo Metro. However, its presence in the Geo lineup was short-lived, as it was only sold in 1989. The next year, it was succeeded by the Isuzu-produced Geo Storm hatchback.
Geo Storm –This model was a sporty vehicle offered as a two-door fastback or hatchback in 1990, replacing the Geo Spectrum. Despite strong sales, the Geo Storm quickly exited the market in 1993. It was a more performance-oriented vehicle within the Geo Brand.
Geo vehicles are over two decades old and require maintenance consistent with high-mileage vehicles. That means an engine oil and filter change every 3,000 miles or three months, whichever comes first. The engine air filter, spark plugs, and fuel filter should be replaced every 30,000 miles or 24 months. It’s essential to have professionals inspect your vehicle regularly and check the oil, coolant, and brake fluid levels as well as the lights. Our technicians can conduct a detailed inspection every few months and look for possible issues before they get big.
You may also want us to inspect the brake system more frequently for older vehicles such as a Geo. If unsure when to service your vehicle, speak to a technician at Guy's Automotive
